BabuJagjeevan Ram Government  Degree College Library plays a vital role in the search of knowledge.  It is the hub of college education around which all academic activities revolve. The aim of the Library is providing necessary information services to all the students and staff. It supports the teaching learning activity in the college and also provide the students updated knowledge and to ensure the optimum utilization of the available resources.

The central Library situated  in the third floor of the college.  It occupies about 1200sft and can accomadateabout 50 students at a time with proper ventilation, lightning and fans. The library has  well stacked for Students & Staff with more than 20000 books, catering to the curriculum as well as to general  knowledge.   There is a good collection of Magazines, Newspapers and Journals that are being subscribed by the college library to enhance and update the knowledge of the students.  It has an internet facility available for the students to connect them to the outside world.

The Library Subscribes to E-SodhSindhu N-LIST consortium for higher education institutions established by the MHRD, Government of India and maintained by INFLIBNET Center, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.  The Library is automated with KOHA Open Source Software.

Library Rules

 
 

Rules:

  • The Library is primarily for the use of faculty, students and non-teaching employees of the college.
  • Students and Faculty are required to write name and other details and put their signature in the Gate Register while entering the library.
  • Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library
  • Silence to be maintained
  • No personal belongings allowed inside the library
  • Registration should be done to become a library member prior to using the library resources
  • Textbooks, printed materials and issued books are not allowed to be taken inside the library.
  • Using Mobile Phones are strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  • Books borrowing limit: Faculty-5, Non Teaching Staff -3 , Student-3
  • 05 No. of Books issued to faculty for one semester, 03 No. of books issued to Students for 15 days, and 03 No. of books issued to Non-Teaching Staff for one month.
  • The borrowed book should be returned on or before due date, If not overdue charge of Re. 1/- per day for students will be collected.
  • The textbooks can be renewed once only for two weeks i.e., a student can keep the textbook for a maximum period of four weeks and after that it cannot be renewed further. However it can be renewed, if there is no demand as on date.
  • Production of No Dues Certificate from the library is essential for obtaining hall ticket to appear for year/semester end exams.
  • Borrower slips and photo identity cards are not transferable.

 

 

Activities :

User Orientation Programs : Every year an Orientation Programme is arranged for the fresher’s in the month of July/August so as to introduce them with the library collection, activities and services.

User Awareness Programs : To increase the usage and bring awareness among the users about resources

National Library Week : We celebrate National Library Week every year November 14TH to 20th to inculcate book reading habits.

Book Exhibitions : Library organizes Exhibition-cum-Sale of Books every year for the students, staff with the purpose to develop a culture of reading among the students and to avail for them an exposure to various kinds of books.

Field Trip:Library organizes Field Trips to other Libraries to create awareness about the libraries and to establish the habit of reading among the students.

Best Library User Award: To encourage students and staff to make efficient use of the library collection and its services. ‘Best Library User Award has been constituted from the academic year 2018-2019.
