About the Department

The Department of Public Administration was established in the year 1974.The Department is offering Public Administration in EPP, HPP and HEPA courses. The courses are designed keeping in view the contemporary developments in the discipline to prepare the students for competitive exams and also to tune them to the requirements of private sector. The department has qualified and committed faculty with wide teaching and research experience. The Department is committed to foster global competencies among the students by organising several lectures, workshops and national seminars. All the Seminars are organized by inviting eminent persons from different fields on a number of emerging issues. The student-centered activities like group discussion, debates nurtured the formulation, analytical and argumentative skills of the students. To inculcate value system among the students, the Department offers Certificate Course in Self Development. The spirit of community engagement is promoted by undertaking various extension activities like visit to orphanages, donations to the needy and teaching to government school children. The Department promotes the use of ICT tools for enrichment of classroom teaching. The Department contributes to national development by celebrating all national and international days thus instilling the virtues like patriotism and unity in diversity. In toto the the department aims at holistic development of students.

SEMESTER – I : Basics of Public Administration

After studying the above course the learner should be able to

  1. Understand the Nature, Scope and Importance of Public Administration.
  2. Gain comprehensive understanding of different administrative theories, concepts, principles and relate them to practise in administration.
  3. Learn the impact of socio-political and economic environment on administrative systems.

SEMESTER – II :  Development Dynamics and Emerging Trends

After studying the above course the learner should be able to

  1. Grasp the importance of Comparative and Development Administration.
  2.  Analyse the emerging trends in Public Administration.
  3. Comprehend the Impact of Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation on Public Administration.

SEMESTER – III : Union Administration

Learner should be able to

  1. Analyse  the historical context and evolution of Indian Administration since ancient period.
  2. Appreciate the role of Indian Administration in realising the development goals of the state.

Rural Local Governance

EXTENSION ACTIVITIES 

Faculty member Dr.V.V.Mallika is NSS Programme Officer and Convenor  of Institutional Social Responsibility Cell. To inculcate the spirit of community engagement among the students the Department has undertaken the following extension activities.

  • The Volunteers of B.J.R.Government Degree College visited Anaada  Vidyardhi griha and sensitized the students there about COVID precautions .Enlightened the students on the steps to be followed to prevent Corona and explained them about e-resources available for their studies.All the faculty members motivated the students  and distributed masks and sanitisers to the students.
  • The students and Staff also visited Rainbow Homes ,an Orphanage for girls near Mushherabad in Hyderabad. They interacted with the residents of the orphanage and motivate the students to excel in their studies. We frequently visit the orphanage  and find out the needs of the    Distributed Books,Pens , Stationery and other material
  • Students and Staff visited Government School in Hyderguda and taught social sciences subjects to the students.Also motivated the students and explained them about different career options.

Best Practices

Documentation Of Best Practices and Innovations in Public Governance

The faculty of Public Administration  explains the students about the importance of governance in the present day society.A historical account of evolution of governance and various important features of governance will be explained to the students.Then the students were asked to read the publications of United Nations and World Bank on Governance. They were also asked to visit the websites of centre for good governance in Telangana.Then the students are asked to explore different good governance initiatives of Telangana, India, and other countries and document the best practices.

FUTURE PLANS

1.Planning to collaborate with premiere Governance Institutes and NGOs for providing internships to the students.

2.To establish Governance Lab so as to provide practical exposure to students.
