About the Department
The Department of COMPUTER SCIENCE was established in Babu Jagjivan Ram Government Degree College, Hyderabad, in the year 1996 as a major subject in B.Sc. and B.Com Programs. The department has grown by leaps and bounds from strength of 30 students to 600 students in the year 2021-22. Though the department initially started with two course combinations, it has gradually introduced novel interdisciplinary course combinations. At present the computer science is being offered with 13 diversified combinations. The department constantly pursues student centric methods by organizing workshops, seminars, and field trips. The department is privileged to receive state level prizes in Jignasa Study Projects conducted by Commissionerate of Collegiate Education. To enrich the professional competencies and enhance the employability skills of the students, the department offers certificate courses on various emerging technologies. To provide excellent learning experience to the students, the department offers certificate courses with the collaboration of Spoken Tutorials, IIT Bombay. The department ensures that every student pursue at least one certificate course. The department contributes to the professional development of staff by consistently organizing ICT Based training programmes. The department promotes research culture by encouraging students and teachers to publish their research work in books and journals. With the intent of professional growth of students, the departments continuously enters into MoUs and linkages with reputed organizations. The department invites eminent persons to deliver extension lectures for the benefit of students.
