About the Department

The Commerce Department is one of the largest departments in the college providing quality education since 1974. It offers B.Com (Computer Applications) and BBA with a present intake of 420 students. The department is driven by considerations of quality, well qualified and committed faculty. To equip the students with practical and analytical skills the Commerce Department engages the students in various academic and cognitive activities viz. Seminars, Group Discussions, Quiz etc.  Entrepreneurship Awareness and Development programmes are arranged in collaboration with external agencies. Many students are pursuing PG in India and abroad. Students are placed in reputed organizations. The department has the distinction of securing above 60% pass percentage consistently since 2019 and is always ranked well among the government degree colleges in twin cities.

  • From 11th to 12th February, 2019 Two Days Training Program on Zoho Books is organized with the help of Promize IT Services Pvt. Ltd. The Trainer is Mr.P.VenkataSasikiran, Partner Programmer of Zoho Financial Suite, Chennai. 65 Students have undergone training in Zoho Books.

  • From 23rd to 25th November, 2018 Dr.C.Rajeshwer, Assistant Commerce attended a Conference on the topic “Towards Scientific and Equitable for all” organised by AIFUCTO, JAC Tamilnadu.
  • From 1st to 3rd November, 2018 Three Days Training Program on ICICI Securities (Products and Services) for 44 Girl Students is organized the sponsorer for the training program is ICICI. Students are able to acquire skills related to Mutual Funds/Shares and how to sell them to the clients.
  • On 6th October 2018 One Day Workshop on ‘Globalization and the Hospitality Management’is organized by Department of Commerce and Social Sciences. Dr.AnandBethapudi, Associate Professor of Management, NITHM is the Chief Guest of the Workshop.
  • Sarita has attended Two-Day National Workshop at Osmania University College for Women, Koti on the topic ‘GST and E-Filling of Income Tax Returns of Individual-Procedural Aspects’ September 19th to 20th, 2018.
  • On 27th August, 2018 An awareness programme for the students of com I Year students is organized by the Department of Commerce. The resource person is Sri Shailendra Gupta from ICICI Disha Trust. In the session the students have got an awareness pertaining to Banking & Insurance Basics, PAN card, Debit & Credit cards, Mutual Funds etc.
  • On 10th August 2018 staff Participated in the Faculty Development Program “Trends and Future of Big Data Analytics and Management” Resource Person is Dr.D.V.Ramana. The FDP is organized by Hyderabad Management Association and Badruka College of Commerce.
  • On 1st August, 2018 staff attended Seminar on “Professionalism and Globalization of Commerce Education” organized by Department of Commerce, Osmania University.
  • On 27th July 2018 Staff attended Seminar on “Changing Trends in Commerce” organized by Telugu Academy Golden Jubilee celebrations.
  • From 18th to 23rd September, 2017 Dr.C.Rajeshwer, Assistant Professor of Commerce attended Short term course on Gender Sensitization (STC-II) organised by UGC-HRDC, JNTU-H.

Extension Lectures: 

  • On 17th December 2021 Sri Devender Relationship Manager interacted with the students of B.Com and informed them to Register for TASK as it enables them in providing Skills and also assists in Placement Drives.
  • On 3rd December 2021a Grooming Session for all the Final Year Students of B.A., B.Com., BBA and B.Sc is organized by Sakshi Media Group & Procter & Gamble Safalta.
  • On 11th May 2021 a National Webinar on Innovation and Entrepreneur-ship is organized by EDC & EDII. The resourcepersons are Dr.Pankaj Bharti, Dr.Lalit Sharma andDr.Baishali Mitra. Students had a rich experience about the various concepts of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
  • On 30th April 2021 EDC and IQAC organized a National Webinar on Schemes and Policies of MSME for Startup and Entrepreneurs. The Resource Persons were Prof.B.Srinivas&Dr.K.Krishna Reddy. Students have got an idea about the schemes and policies of MSME.
  • On 28 April 2021 Students attended a Webinar on awareness of Revenue Cycle Management Services. The resource person was Smt.Beena. The Webinar was organized by Valliappa Foundation and Tech Mahindra Foundation.
  • From 6th to 11th July 2020 Organized National Program on “Significance of Skill Development for University and College Students.
  • On 15th May 2020 arranged an Invited Talk on the topic “Career opportunities to the Graduate Students in Hospitality and Tourism sector” by Dr.Chinnam Reddy, Director NITHM.
  • On 12th May 2020 arranged an Invited Talk on the topic “The role of RBI of India in the Present Scenario and the Employment Opportunities in Banking Sector” by Sri M.Venkatesh

  • On 6th March 2020 Dr.B.Anand Associate Professor of Management interacted with our students and delivered a talk on the employment opportunities in Tourism and Hospitality Sector.

  • On 19th& 20th November, 2019 Sri V.Nagender, Resource Person delivered Lectures on the Topics: “ Company Final Accounts & Profit Prior to Incorporation” and “Valuation of Goodwill and Shares”.

 

  • On 18th September, 2019 a Lecture by Mr.Devender, District Coordinator, TASK is organized for the students of B.Com. The Speaker unanimously reiterated the fact that students need to take responsibility of skilling themselves to prepare for future workplaces that demand employability skills for 21st Century Jobs this will help in reducing unemployment and under employment and facilitate Job Creation through Entrepreneurship

  • On 26th July 2019 Sri Krishna Pradeep Director of 21st Century IAS interacted with our Com I Year students. An Awareness Program Pertaining Entry to Civil Services and State Government Services is given by Sri Krishna Pradeep sir. Sir has given so many valuable suggestions in preparing for the Civil as well as Group I Services.
  • On 6th March 2019 an Awareness Program on various courses offered by ICICI Skill Academy, Hyderabad by Sri M.Balraj sir was explained to the students and sir motivated the students to enroll themselves for various skill oriented courses at ICICI Skill Academy.

Field Trips:  

On 21st December 2021 Students of B.Com attended the 34th Hyderabad National Book Fair 2021 at NTR Stadium. The Faculty of Languages accompanied the Students.

On 16th December 2021 Field Trip to BDL, Kanchanbagh the Manufacturer of Ammunition and Missile Systems, BDL organized Product Exhibition. Students of B.Com attended the Product Exhibition.

On 15th February 2020 Students of II and III B.Com attended Educational Fair at TajVivanta Begumpet. Hyderabad.

On 7th January 2020 Students under the guidance of Anusha Madam visited Infosys SEZ Campus Pocharam.

On 31st December, 2019 Students attended 33rdNational Book Fair at at NTR Stadium.

Department Commerce
Title of Practice To take up a Corporate Social Responsibility Activity for the benefit of Students by inviting eminent personalities.
Goal To organize the training program on Financial Education to the students of B.Com and BBA by inviting the Trainer Sri C.Vijaya Rao of NISM.
The context NISM is Promoted by SEBI. Kotak Securities executed the Project under Corporate Social Responsibility by providing the training free of cost and also paid the honorarium to the trainer.
Practice From 22nd November to 26th November, 2021 a Five Day Training on Financial Education for Final Year Students of B.Com& BBA took place. The trainer is Sri C.Vijaya Rao from NISM.

 

Evidence of Success 62 Students attended the training program from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. and got a rich experience on Financial Education.

Title of Practice To Diagnose Different Types of Learners viz. Dependent Learners, Collaborative Learners and Independent Learners
Goal Based on the types of Learners Goals are fixed

Dependent Learners are provided Notes and Remedial Coaching before the Supplementary Examinations such that they clear their backlogs during the Even Semester Examinations

Collaborative Learners are provided Study Material and are asked to form in groups and are asked to work out Problems and Practice the Programs on the computers in the Laboratory

Independent Learners are entrusted to take up study projects and are provided special coaching in certificate courses and campus recruitment training.

The context To do the needful to all categories of Learners viz. Dependent Learners, Collaborative Learners and Independent Learners.
Practice The Members of Faculty of Commerce attempt to diagnose different types of learners viz;

(1) Dependent learners who need direction, expertise and authority from the Lecturer.

(2) Collaborative learners who interact with the Lecturers, collaborate and create a good learning environment .

(3) Independent learners who need facilitation, expertise and delegation from the part of the Lecturers. The remedial and enrichment classes are also arranged based on these types of learners.

The lecturers submit lecture plans year-wise and/or semester-wise giving due consideration to the syllabi, length of the chapters and number of teaching days available. At the end of the semester, a completion report is submitted.

All computers in the College are available to the students from morning 8.30 A.M. to 6 P.M it helps the students to practice on the computers as well as access information. The students and staff are provided with free internet facilities to enhance knowledge in their respective subjects. The Library also aids the lecturers and students to upgrade their knowledge.

The classrooms are provided with digital boards and internet facility is provided as it makes the faculty to show PPTs, Videos etc. related to the topic which the Subject Lecturer teaches in the class.

 

Evidence of Success Providing the Notes, Remedial Classes, Study Material, Certificate Courses, Recruitment Training helped the diversified students as per the requirement during the Academic Year 2020-21 the Pass Percentage has improved compared to Academic Year 2019-20. Students are able to get admissions in M.Com and M.B.A. Students are able to get Admission in Post Graduation at Foreign Universities. Students are able to join in Private Firms at Hyderabad.
